Library and Archives Canada buys the largest and most complete collection of War of 1812 documentation
Library and Archives Canada has bought the largest known collection of War of 1812 documentation. The collection of books, maps, manuscripts and images from the War of 1812 era once belonged to Sir John Coape Sherbrooke, former Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia and Governor General of British North America. All of the material acquired is original documentary heritage. It includes approximately 80 manuscript and printed maps, 37 letterbooks, original correspondence, one portrait and other unique artifacts. The collection was acquired for £433,250 or about $690,00 at am auction held in London, England last week. More information available here.
