Summer Institute looks at teaching the Underground Railroad
The Harriet Tubman Institute and the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition at Yale University are pleased to announce the Summer Institute is now underway this week with “Across the Border: A Transnational Approach to Teaching the Underground Railroad” at York University. This is a multi-faceted program with intensive reading and discussion sessions coupled with experiential learning opportunities, including documentary analysis and interpretation at the Archives of Ontario; instructional media development employing cutting edge digital technology at York University’s Augmented Reality laboratory,–the largest in Canada; and exploration of powerful ways to teach about the Underground Railway through process drama.
