Vanessa S. Oliveira wins LASO Award for best paper at the 2014 African Studies Association conference
Congratulations to Vanessa S. Oliveira, ABD in the Graduate Program in History and Associated Student Fellow of the Harriet Tubman Institute, who won the LASO (Lusophone African Studies Organization) Award for the best paper presented this last November at the 2014 African Studies Association (USA) conference by a graduate student or a junior scholar (having completed their Ph.D. after 2010) on a Lusophone topic. Vanessa’s paper was entitled “Women and Land in Nineteenth Century Luanda”.
