Professor Lovejoy Honored at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University in Katsina Nigeria

Professor Paul E. Lovejoy, Distinguished Research Professor, was invited to be the opening keynote speaker at an international conference held at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University in Katsina, Nigeria in November 2017. During the conference, Lovejoy was awarded a lifetime achievement plaque. The award is one of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University’s highest honors which is given to those who have made vast contributions to Nigerian history.

Lovejoy, a preeminent scholar of the African diaspora and African history, has written extensively on Africa and the transatlantic slave trade, particularly during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
